I am concerned. I look at the world and i see a general high level of apathy. People just aren’t connected to each other in our world today. This apathy for other’s is scary. What worries me, more, is that i see it from the little ones all the way on up through the different ages groups.
I know that the Bible says that the end days are going to be like this. But, this general lack of caring for each other is strong… even in our churches. That is not ok. The church is supposed to be a healing place. A place to minister to people’s hurts.
We work with the youth…the very young in our church. In addition, we work as support staff with the teen youth program in our church. It is frightening how much these kids are hurting in all areas of their lives. Do they turn to each other…not so much. They are turning to things outside of their families; outside of the church. Some of the things they are turning to are only destroying them more.
However, it seems that many of them aren’t connecting to each other’s worries, concerns or pain. They want other’s to feel their pain but, they don’t understand how to really and truly invest deep emotion in each other. The surface is there and I can’t help but feel that God is calling us all to be ripples in our own little ponds at work, at school, at church and in our communities to reach out to them.
No question, life is hard around the world. No matter who you are; you have problems. We all do; but maybe, by sharing with each other, we can help lift someone else’s burdens and in doing so…it will in some way help us as well.
If you think it is not your problem…just think ahead. As we all age, the youth of today will be running the world. Is it a world you want to live in…a world without love, caring or true concern for each other? Do you want your children or grandchildren growing up in a world where people don’t really give a rip about hurting other?
