Today’s news of the passing away of George Osmond, father of the Osmond brothers and their sister Marie made me sad. Growing up through the 70’s and 80’s i feel sort of bonded to the Osmond family. I watched them over those years and always felt somewhat invested in their lives. What girl growing up at that time…didn’t have a crush on Donnie. And Marie, was and is a beautiful girl.
Their family loved and supported each other…but at the same time…picked at each other just like a regular family. They just did it on television! 🙂
I ,like most of the nation, watch Dancing with the Stars. I love to see them learn and grow. Marie has been doing well. Last night was awesome…and somewhat of a tribute for her parents. I think it is wonderful that her father got a chance to see her pay him and his wife tribute on television one last time.
It made me cry to hear Donnie and Marie in a recorded clipped interview talk about what an awesome father he was to them and the other siblings.
You could just feel their pain and loss. On the bright side…they do believe in God and they know they will see him again.
He was 90 years old…what a legacy to leave behind. Love and respect…can any of us ask for more than that, from our children?
He was a wonderful man & they are a truly sweet & loving family.
Be sure to watch Oprah on Friday – on Thur. the entire Osmond family is taping her show celebrating their 50 years in show business and will dedicate the show as a tribute to their father. It will air Friday – the same day as their Father’s funeral.
In March on PBS they will air a special that was taped this past summer in Vegas to celebrate their years in the business. It was a very emotional event.
There are some video interviews with Donny and Marie that will tug at your heart on http://www.etonline.com and http://www.theinsideronline.com about how they feel about their father.
Mr Osmond was a FATHER to all Osmond Fans around the world. I wish that my Dad had been more like him. I, like Marie, am the only girl with all Brothers. But I also wished my family had been like theirs. God Bless the whole Osmond Family at this time of sorrow in thir lives. And I understand what Marie is going through, both my parents and 3 of my 5 Brothers are gone.
