I had a magical flashback moment today. I was listening to a radio station online and boom…there was the voice of peace and love…Luther Vandross.
Luther always embodied the beauty of romance and love in his songs. He was one singer who always touched hearts with his music and his message. He died about a year and a half ago…i will always miss hearing the music that he would have served up, had he lived. He was talented and he was gifted in his delivery. Luther had heart; and, he sang with passion.
The song i heard today was, Here and Now; i remember seeing my cousin dance the first dance with her new husband, at her wedding, to that song. She is gone now; passed away very young from cancer. However, when i hear that song…i remember her happiness and the Promise of a forever love.
So, i think i will get out my Luther CD’s and will have me a remembrance today. There is no one out there like him today musically. If they could bottle his talent and his skill…someone would be very blessed to own it.
I agreed with you 100% Luther Vandross sing with passion. His music always made you feel good, don’t matter what kind of move you are in. He had a wonderful gift, his wonderful voice.
The first time I heard him, I felt in love with his voice and his music. The song was ” Never Too Much”, from the time on I was hook. He had a very great voice, 99% of all of his songs are about love. I think that something we can never have enough of.
I look at myself as being the #1 Luther Vandross’s fan. I listen to his music everyday. He birthday is coming up on April 20, he would had been 57th. Our birthday are six days apart, we was born the same year. I’m six days older then him. There is no way I could ever forget his birthday.
I went to three of his concerts, the last one was in 2001. He put’s on a very good show, something you will never forget. I also, have three of his concert on DVD.
I will never forget what I was doing went I heard that he died. I was on the telephone, talking to the cable company, about some problem. The lady put me on hold for about three mintues. When, she came back on the telephone, she say “I don’t believe it, Luther Vandross pass away”. To me it was like losing a member of my family. I could not believe it. I was hoping that he would recovery from the stoke. The person I really felt bad for was his mother. Now, she had lost her husband and all of her children. Luther Vandross was her only child left. That’s too much for any person to go thought. His mother have to be one of the strongest people in the world.
Sometime I just sit and think that It’s not going to be any more new Luther Vandross’ music. But, he left us with lots of music to remember his by. I have over 140 songs download on my ipod, and on my comupter. Now, that it’s March Madness. They play “One shining Moment” after the Final Four Game and the Championship Game, wish is this Saturday and Monday. Luther Vandross remade the song over in 2002, around the same time he made “Dance With My Father”. The NCAA start playing Luther Vandross “One Shining Moment”,around 2004, too bad he did not get to enjoy it, and see how it look, went they put the song to the game. I look forward hearing it, each year.
Luther Vandross is so missed, and was so love by millions all over the world. It’s never ever going to be another Luther Vandross.
