While watching the 12th season of The Bachelor this year…one couldn’t help but notice how Shayne Lamas had Matt Grant wrapped around her little pinkie finger. No matter what any of the other 24 contestants did or didn’t do…he was drawn to Shayne. If I remember right, on one episode that had Shayne’s father, Lorenzo Lamas, on it…he made some kind of mysterious statement regarding the reason why she wanted to be the chosen one…she wanted to be on television. That sort of came across to me as self serving…she didn’t appear to be authentic, in my opinion, in showing her feelings for him either. Yet Matt proposed to Shayne and gave her the engagement ring; he believed in the relationship enough to get publically engaged. I can’t help but wonder…how the other young lady that was rejected feels now…does she feel vindicated…sorry for poor Matt…???
In any case, it has been announced, in the last week or so, that they have broken their engagement. Now, Shayne has claimed that Matt is “ok” with her keeping the ring (approximate value $65,000.00); Matt denies that they even had a conversation about her keeping the ring. She allegedly wants to put it in a glass case…sort of like a display of the perverbial glass slipper that Cinderella wore in the old classic tale. That is a bit dramatic…but after all, what do we expect…she is an actress!
Matt says…he feels that they should sell the ring and donate the money to charity. I think that is a wonderful idea…and a challenge to miss Shayne. As Matt allegedly said in a statement to People magazine, Shayne thinks that she can say anything she wants and I will go along with it! Ouch…that has to hurt the old ego a bit; since he is contradicting her statements regarding the ring publically.
I say good for you Matt…don’t let Shayne wipe her dirty Manolo Blahnik shoes on you; don’t let her railroad you into becoming the bachelor door Matt! Hey, I have an idea. Maybe they could go on Judge Judy and see what she says. I have seen her make mincemeat out of women who think they can keep a ring…when everyone knows…it is part of a verbal contract to accept the ring with the promise of marriage…otherwise…the women are usually advised to give the ring back. Come on Matt, give Judge Judy a call! 🙂
