Ok, I get it…the Oscar awards are supposed to be about recognizing the best in the film industry; however, over the years…the Oscars have turned into an industry unto itself. There are Oscar parties, pre-Oscar and post-Oscar parties, the Barbara Walter’s pre-Oscar interviews, the morning shows that preview the menu’s and the decor of the dinning areas…come on! Enough already. (more…)

Alpha Inventions-Have You Heard About Them Yet?

Alpha Inventions, I wondered if you have heard of them yet? I discovered them the other day when they made an appearance on my stat counter on my blog site. I wondered who are they and; how, and why are they referring so many visitors to my blog. Not that I minded the traffic; in fact, it was quite wonderful. However, sometimes sites connect to your site that you wish had never heard of you; you know what I mean? Some of them bring traffic that i don’t want associated with my blog.
Anyway, i did a little sleuthing and found out it is a site that is relatively new. From what i understand…it is a site that brings exposure to a multitude of sites-in real time. So, as soon as you post to your site/blog others can see it at that moment. In doing so, they are current on what information or products you are trying to bring to the world wide web. I don’t understand all of the ins and outs of their algorithms…but, thankfully, it isn’t my job to understand it. I am benefitting from someone else’s brillance. That is ok with me. In return, i hope that my blog brings something to them as well.
Interesting though when you stop to think about the name. Alpha Inventions…when I looked it up there were many definitions for Alpha. Of course, we all know about the Alphabets…a listing of letters that begins with the letter A. Then, there is the definition of Alpha as first or beginning-beta (as in beta testing). Then, there is the definition of top of the line or dominant. And finally, to be the most prominent, talented or aggressive. Congrats to Alpha Inventions for thinking outside of the box. Think of it as free media publicity for your writings or your business/marketing site. It is another tool to use to bring attention to your goals that you are trying to accomplish on your site.
When you stop and think about it…all of those terms apply to http://www.alphainventions.com . It is an experiment in transition i think. However, a brilliant one…I think it will be fine tuned and will catch on like wildfire. Like any invention…it will go through several phases of development. In the meantime, enjoy the extra traffic that they send you…you won’t be sorry.
Traffic Jam

Who hates getting stuck in a traffic jam? Yeah, me too…unless it is with my blog; then, i absolutely love, love, love traffic. I am thrilled to be to say, that with the next 10 visitors; I will have had 56,000 visitors to this blog in exactly 15 months (minus two days) 🙂 That is totally cool! Now, if only I was a marketer and had something to sell…hmmm…i could be fairly well up to my eyeballs with nickels and dimes, don’t ya think? Too funny, as I have no business interest, other than writing that is.
Anyway…i was just so excited to share this very important update, lol…that i couldn’t wait for those last ten visitors to appear. I remember just a few short weeks ago, announcing on a teleseminar with Michael Penland, that i was about to hit 51,000 visitors; and, that was on August 30th–that is only 6 short weeks ago!!! https://writeasrain.wordpress.com/2008/08/30/doing-something-new-is-scary/
Wow, that’s 5,000 visitors in six weeks. Every new blogging milestone far out-distances any goals that i have ever set for myself. Imagine what an individual could do when they go about setting their sights on a goal with determination to achieve it!!! Mind blowing to a girl who’s only goal was to set about being disciplined and writing every day; when possible…and trying to document the world as i observe it, in my own way. Maybe i need to raise my expectations for myself; set a new goal or accomplishment to achieve. I will have to think on that…what do i need to focus on or do with my writing that is different?
I guess it just illustrates the need to connect…and communicate; human beings share so many things in common with one another. We all have opinions on the things that go on around us; maybe you have something to write about that someone else wants or needs to hear?
It’s Time For Dancing With The Stars!

In less than an hour, Dancing With The Stars will premiere this years season opener. It will be a three night premiere. I can’t wait to see who starts out the season making a sparkling entrance and who will clearly make a splash. All of this year’s participants are interesting and talented in their own field…so it will be another season of fun…watching them grow and learn. The celebrities are skilled in athletics, acting, comedy and so on…so it will be cool to see them using teamwork with their professional dance instructors to perform each week. This first week, two yes i said two couple will leave the competition.
Watch it with me and feel the tension and competition mount as relationships are formed and the competitors become a fraternity with one another. It seems that each season has it’s own little close knit group. They have fun and challenge themselves and support other couples who they form friendships with. I wonder if they ever have reunions together? I think Mel B will be back on this season making cameo appearances. It is fun to see things through the former competitor’s eyes! Who are you rooting for and why?
A Sense Of Accomplishment

Today was one of those days where…i felt..i had little to contribute in my normal sphere of interaction. Others relieved me of my duties out of a regular shifting of schedules and it was an opportunity to rest and relax. It was nice…but…feeling a little lost as i was out of my normal comfort zone. It didn’t help that i have been fighting sinus pain and pressure, off and on, for a month or so…today, it was right there…my constant companion.
However, when i got home…i had an agenda. I “needed” to clean, process, and can some tomatoes that have been sitting in a box…silently taunting me with their presence. I was procrastinating for the last couple of days…because i hadn’t been feeling well.
Since the sinus pressure was not going away…i had strengthened my resolve to get those babies canned; and, to do the same with the salsa that i had prepared days ago and was letting “marinate” in my fridge waiting for the primo opportunity to put them up! I had made a committment to myself.
I dug in and got to work. I feel good because i actually like canning once I get it started. It is getting prepared and getting started that annoys me. I just want to see progress…my impatience is showing i guess.
When my hubby gets home from his business trip tomorrow…he will find the table littered with my accomplishments. The jars have to sit undisturbed for 24 hours before they can be moved. But that is fine with me…it is the “proof” of what setting your mind to accomplishing your goals can achieve. Now, i have a bit of tomato juice prepared for the winter as well as some wonderful, homemade salsa, all ready to go! Tomorrow is the first day of fall…that means that winter is right around the corner. Time to get prepared for it…by being a good steward of the harvest season.
Ahh…now on to the preserving of the squash! Oh my…we are blessed…thank you God for providing for us!
Motivation or Flaunting It Over Others?

I became aware of an extreme example of those who have; and, those who have not. The nation of Swaziland celebrated it’s 40th independence day as well as the King of Swazi’s 40th birthday in an ostentatious way. The King Mswati was driven around in a convertible BMW flaunting his weath in a country that is overwhelmed with extreme poverty. The nation has been devastated by the AIDS epidemic; it has the world’s highest AIDs rate. This means that many households are not able to earn enough money to provide for their families; because many households are headed up by children because of the plague of AIDs. Those homes that are affected by AIDS may not be healthy enough to work. Many individuals only get enough food to eat because of international food aid. This is a terribly sad event.
This lack of basic necessities limits the average person’s ability to influence powerful changes, in a country that desperately needs to improve it’s quality of life. In my mind, if the country has that kind of money…i have to wonder, why is the international community forced to provide food aid in the first place? Those people should be coming first, in my mind, to the King of that country… he and his family should not be living a lifestyle that feeds off of riches…while his own subjects are forced to accept help from outside countries! That should be considered shameful to the King of Swaziland and it’s officials. It is, to me, a failure to fulfill his duties to provide care for the people under his rule. (more…)
Words Americans Can Live By

Tonight, a totally moving and strong speach was given by Sarah Palin, the Republican nominee for the Vice President of the United States. This woman i believe could very much be good for our country. She has given a message that the people of the United States have wanted to hear from their leaders…whether they be Republican or Democrats.
She is down home, grass roots…and very direct. She exhibits qualities that hit home with real people…who work hard for their money and struggle to keep it for their families. She believes in cutting down on government control. She encourages improving the living conditions for special needs children and their families. She promises that when elected…those families will have a friend in the highest offices of the land. She has a sense of humor and she knows how to use it. She asked what the difference was between soccer moms and a pit bull…she said soccer moms wear lipstick…she classifys herself as a soccer mom!
She illustrates the difficulties that the American middle class families face with job cuts and taxes that burden families; she declares that she and McCain will cut excess government spending. She has proudly underscored the strength of the hard working people in the country who do not live as the elite in Washinton DC.
It is powerful to see this speach take place. It will be interesting to see what happens in the polls now. Whether in the Vice President position or not…this woman is going to make a huge impact on America. She is proud of her son in the United States military, her daughters and her husband, as well as her son with Down’s Syndrome. I applaud her support of those with special needs. What’s little ol me doing on a call with a Billion Dollar Marketing Dream Team? I remember starting out with a lot of self-doubt and I pushed myself to take a risk to either fail or succeed. The only thing i can figure about my being asked to join the call is; that each one of those people started out with a goal, an idea or a dream. They built up their businesses by learning and growing in their area of expertise. They each had mentors, role models, and experts that they were smart enough to connect with. This helped them with their goals and helped them to build up their accomplishments allowing them to live the life of their choosing.
The call is a free tele-seminar that i was asked to join, by businessman Michael Penland. This call is for small business owners and internet marketers who want to grow their business larger and aren’t quite sure how to go about it or want to discover what they are missing. Learning how to make extra money is never a bad thing when you are willing to work towards your goals.
I am not a business-person. I am a wife, mother, daughter and blogger. I sure do wish to grow my blog; i would love for it to be bigger and better. Michael Penland knows how to attract people who are good at what they do. I would like to learn as much as the next person. Michael heard about my blog and asked me to join on the call. I am a bit nervous, as I am not sure where he will go with the short interview…there are others on the call who will have much to say; and, are very accomplished in what they do. Let the call be an encouragement to your future; commit to the call by registering for free.
If you have a business or website that you would like to grow…you might want to join the call tonight at 9pm eastern time. It is free after all; and, if it helps you to discover how to make your dreams come true…then, it is worth sacrificing a little time on a tele-seminar. Here is a link to register…there are only 200 lines open so hurry. http://tinyurl.com/6k3tpr Is your dream worth a little time on a call?
