For real people, do we need a reminder that black friday is just about shopping and getting deals on those items. It should not be a battle for your life! Reports today that there were injuries and one death due to the crush of IMPATIENT shoppers trying to get into a Walmart for some nice bargains! This is ridiculous…items on sale are not worth someone’s life…or possible injury. Sure everyone likes to save money…but come on, please let’s not be heartless in the pursuit of saving money. One of the injured was a pregnant woman. There were others who were injured as well. The death was a temporary Walmart employee that was knocked down and killed. Let’s get our priorities in order. Sad statement on the value some people put on things, rather than on other people, in America.

Bleeding Green-Bailout Madness?

How many of you have ever had knowledge of an emergency situation where someone is bleeding profusely? Emergency training teaches to apply pressure; or, to use a tourniquiet to temporarily stop the blood loss. It is no different with our financial crisis; yet, apparently in a move that goes against common sense…we are bleeding green…sending more and more money to problematic areas that are already bleeding out.
What we need is a check and balance here…someone to triage…find out who we can afford to let go on to their great reward. We can’t save everyone here financially speaking. So, if we are going to attempt to try to turn the tide with this financial mess…we need to find the most effective way to pump money back into the economy in a way that is going to repair the situation. Not prolong the agony. Those companies that would abuse the help provided them should be held accountable. The governmental leaders who are in charge should be held accountable if they fail to serve honorably; by not keeping track of the ebb and flow of the bailout plan. It should be considered a crime to fail at accounting for each and every dime of the bailout money that does not produce a positive outcome on the economy. It would challenge those who benefit from the rescue plan to strictly monitor the use of such money entrusted to them!
Americans are angry about this whole situation. They are struggling and there is no safety net waiting for them when they fail financially…so, their expectations of our leaders who are guiding the ship in regards to the bailout, are high. Those expectations are not currently being met…and Americans have had their fill of leaders and organizations who abuse their power and influence over our society. The impact of such irresponsible behavior is what has brought us to this place and time in history; it is unacceptable.
Allegedly, reports have surfaced, twice now, on AIG as having pricey get-to-gethers since they have come knocking on the government’s door begging for bailouts to keep them from filing for a $150 billion dollar bankruptcy. This is seen by many as an excessive fly- in- your- face disregard for the sacrifices that tax payers are taking on, by dolling out the $40 billion dollars that the treasury has set aside to help put AIG back in black.
What is madness is that this kind of behavior seems to go without consequences except to the country as a whole. We are drowning in poor choices, in excesses that failing business expect others to dig them out of. If a small business owner took on that kind of attitude…there would be nothing but financial ruin in their future…not a reward of an all expense paid trip to a spa on the taxpayers!
The average American is drowning as well. There are no individual life rings being tossed to the middle class taxpayer. We are being hit from all sides by the economy, taxation, educational funding, rising cost of living bills, home heating costs, gasoline, medical costs; and still, more and more people are loosing their jobs or their investments. Home foreclosure is at an all time high.
How in the world are taxpayers going to pay more to bailout anyone when they are barely keeping afloat themselves with the drain on their incomes? If people don’t have jobs, they can’t pay taxes. Common sense dictates that we examine closely where all of this bailout money is coming from; and, limit those who are benefitting from the rescue money. If some business or organization is not being fiscally responsible they should not then be given a blank check to continue the party.
This is not a free for all…We need someone in a position to regulate the flow of green; apply some pressure. We are living in an unprecedented time of national debt…it just makes sense to be watching our bottom line. There is nothing wrong with taking a little time to evaluate the situation and make an informed decision about the best way to tackle this mess. Remember Russia and the collapse of their union? Are we looking to make history as the next nation to collapse from the inside out?

Tonight, a totally moving and strong speach was given by Sarah Palin, the Republican nominee for the Vice President of the United States. This woman i believe could very much be good for our country. She has given a message that the people of the United States have wanted to hear from their leaders…whether they be Republican or Democrats.
She is down home, grass roots…and very direct. She exhibits qualities that hit home with real people…who work hard for their money and struggle to keep it for their families. She believes in cutting down on government control. She encourages improving the living conditions for special needs children and their families. She promises that when elected…those families will have a friend in the highest offices of the land. She has a sense of humor and she knows how to use it. She asked what the difference was between soccer moms and a pit bull…she said soccer moms wear lipstick…she classifys herself as a soccer mom!
She illustrates the difficulties that the American middle class families face with job cuts and taxes that burden families; she declares that she and McCain will cut excess government spending. She has proudly underscored the strength of the hard working people in the country who do not live as the elite in Washinton DC.
It is powerful to see this speach take place. It will be interesting to see what happens in the polls now. Whether in the Vice President position or not…this woman is going to make a huge impact on America. She is proud of her son in the United States military, her daughters and her husband, as well as her son with Down’s Syndrome. I applaud her support of those with special needs. Dancing With the Stars-Could They, Would They, Should They?

I read an article that I believe will bring the house down, if ABC chooses to push the envelope with Dances With The Stars this season on television. The article had an alledged comment from Cheryl Burke that said something to the effect of; America wasn’t ready to see two men dancing together. The comment was in reference to a question about a competitor in the upcoming season, Lance Bass. The question alluded to the idea of whether Lance would have a male, or female dancing professional partner. Cheryl apparently doesn’t think that would happen. I agree, i think if it were to happen…ABC would see a huge backlash directed towards one of it’s most popular shows.
Lance Bass, a former singer in the boy band N’SYNC, announced that he is gay back in 2006, I believe. I think that if ABC took a chance to shock viewers by allowing such a trouncing on the mainstream traditional family values they would stand to lose not only sponsors; but, ratings as well. The sponsors themselves could potentially risk loosing lots of money. Public opinion carrys alot of weight with television…and with the networks struggling and competing against cable programming…i wonder if they would truly risk such a decision.
Also, it seems to me that there would also be a question of an unfair advantage of having two partners with the combined physical strength that two male dancers would have, over the traditional dancing partners of one male and one female. I doubt that the other teams would feel that they were evenly matched in comparison.
The new season will begin on September 22, 2008. Who knows whether ABC even seriously considered this idea; or, whether it has been put into the media by the organizations that try to push the gay/lesbian agenda on television. People are people no matter what and deserve respect, not hate; often these issues push hot buttons…however, i do think that Cheryl Burke was right…I don’t think America is ready, willing, or able to be participants in watching the show if it violates their personal beliefs.
The question is, Dancing with the Stars…could they, would they, or should they, do something so contrary to traditional family values as to allow a gay man to compete with a dance professional of the same sex during a prime time television show that many families watch with their children?

Are you tired of trying to find family activities that you don’t have to apologize to your kids for; inevitably, many of those so called family activities, violate the very family values that you are trying to instill in your children? Well, here is an event that you won’t have to justify taking your family to.
It is the National Baby Food Festival in the Baby Food Capital of the World. Gerber baby food company is known around the world for it’s innovative production of baby foods and products; and it is celebrating in the town where it all began, Fremont, Michigan. (more…)

The countdown has begun, we have an 8 measly days to prepare for the fourth of July. How do you plan to celebrate the freedoms that you have, that were purchased by the men and women of our country’s military? All branches of the armed forces deserve to be honored. How about along with those picnics and parades, you carve out a litle time to make and send a card to thank them for their sacrifice?
Did you know that there are many service people who don’t get words of encouragement or support from anyone? Oh, alot of our military men and women have their own friends and family who are strong in their support…but some really and truly don’t. Some are lonely or sad; some are on their own, away from home for the first time. When my husband was in the Marine Corps years ago; he was blessed to have a mother who wrote to him daily, all four years of his service. My husband had a roomate who never received any cards or letters. Out of compassion, my mother-in-law sent him a letter; it moved that roomate to tears. He said to my husband…you do not know how much this means to mean to get this. It was a moment of support that that young man desperately needed. Here is a program that i heard about and loved the idea of from the very moment I heard about it. It is a non-profit organization called, Make 2 Tell 2.
The whole idea behind make2tell2 is to make two cards of encouragement, good wishes or support; and then, telling two others about the program and getting them to do the same. The organization will collect the cards and then send them on to our military personel in Afghanistan and Iraq. There isn’t much time left, we only have 8 days including today! Can you help? These are our sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, fathers and mothers…they are sacrificing time away from their own support systems to serve our country.
How about sitting down the children who are out of school; let them unleash their creativity. By this point, the newness of being out of school for the summer has set in and they are complaining of having nothing to do. This is a great craft project for them. Once they get started they won’t want to stop. Or, do you know someone who is a scrap booker and loves to use their skills to make their own cards and such? This is a perfect project for them. Use your imagination as far as who would be willing to help…this really is a wonderful way to celebrate the fourth of July and celebrate all that we are blessed with here in America.
For those service people who are overseas…this will help them to feel appreciated and a little less alone. Here is the contact information for the program. Feel free to include your contact information, on those cards and letters if you feel led. Or if you are uncomfortable with that…make them, and just sign your name; either way, this is a great way of serving your country. It is such a small sacrifice of your time but it can have an amazing impact on someone. Make 2 Tell 2

I am doing this myself, with my children today…and I am asking you to do the same. Make a little time to give back to the greatest country in the world. Celebrate the veterans of yesterday, today and tomorrow…who knows…they just might be one of your very own loved ones!
