Oh man, i saw a poll today where people vote on who should go home on Dancing With The Stars.  The result showed what i was fearing…the couple i have been rooting for, Marissa and Tony.  I really, really like the two of them together.  Sure, she didn’t start out with any great kind of dancing skills…but she has improved, immensely.  Tonight is the results show; don’t let Marissa go home.

However, from that one poll…it looks like she could actually be the one to go home as it was from viewer’s opinion.  That fact, plus the fact that the judges scored their two dances in a way that they ended up at the bottom of the four couples dance scores.  Bummer…i was hoping she would make it at least to the semi-finals… I know that she doesn’t have the technical skills of Kristi, or the flare of Christian, or the grace of Jason….but, she has personality, joy, and style of her own that is unparrelled.  Best of luck Tony and Marissa.   update:  Tony and Marissa were the ones to leave.  I for one will miss them.  So, next week the competitors will be Christian and Cheryl, Edyta and Jason, Kristi and Mark.  The semi-finals ….awesome season of dancing with the stars!

Marissa and Tony are safe.  Kristi Yamaguchi and her partner Mark Ballas…are safe.  Christian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke are safe.  It was down to Mario and Karina and Jason and Edyta….  So who is leaving….

Mario and Karina are leaving.  I think that Mario improved alot over the weeks.  He conducted himself with dignity and pride in the leaving.  He is a talented young man.

The show was a wonderful revisiting of the previous dances from the other seasons that stood out.  It was nice to see some of those stars come back to honor the show.  Ahhhh…the intensity of the competition is increasing even as this show ends the week.  What will happen next and who will be the next to go?

It is monday once again, and that means that it is another week in the drama that is Dances With The Stars.  It will be a praying Christian, and his partner Cheryl, that will will perform this evening; while many will wonder if it is wise to push his competition in this dance with the ruptured tendon in his bicep.

Last week, Christian de la Fuente gamely extended his arm to Cheryl, to pick her up off of the floor, where she fell when he could not support her during the dance, after his injury.  If he doesn’t perform to his expected level…it will be, his last week.

Realistically, is it even wise to encourage him to delay the surgery, that his arm needs, purely to stay in the competition?  I think even though the judges and the audience admire his willingness to hang in there…there is no LOGICAL way that he can possibly perform in the way that he needs to do, to compete with his peers.

It is an honor to win Dancing With The Stars…but, in a few weeks the glory of it will wear off and yet, his health and well being is for life.

Well, once again, it is Monday…and we all know what that means, right?  Dancing With The Stars will have my back porch glued to the couch once again tonight.  Then the long torturous wait till I know who will be leaving the contest.  As much as i can’t wait to see the performances…i hate to see anyone leaving at this point because as a viewer i start to invest a little rah, rah, rah for each of them.  Ahhh…i know it has to happen, teams getting eliminated, for someone to actually win the whole competition; but, i don’t have to actually like it, now do I?

Wow, last night’s Dances with the Stars was good.  It is never a dull show.  From Adam Carolla’s interesting display of a paso doble in a cape an performed in the beginning on a unicycle.  Hmmm…entertaining yes, dancing…not so much.  I know he has a following and he is funny…up to a point..usually at the point where he crossing the line into uncomfortable…and then…well…it is his night to leave i should think!  So Sorry Julianne Hough…i do love to see you dance…but…you don’t have much to work with this season, i am afraid.

Priscilla Pressley was beautiful and graceful.  However, she was spotted by Len and Carrie Ann as doing a “lift”.  Although…it didn’t seem to hurt her score overmuch a 22 out of posssible 30.  Carrie Ann also complimented Priscilla on her facial expressions…some people definately disagree with that assessment.

Mario, partnered with Karina, i thought did a decent job…i see him improving a bit each week.  He seems to definately have a desire to conquer the challenges put before him.  His scores weren’t impressive but they were improved over his scores of a week ago.

Jason Taylor the football player is large but his footwork is improving.  He seems to be Trying to be graceful with his hands..however…at times it seems awkward.  But i have to say…wow…is there chemistry between him and Edyta.  Their dance, besides a stumble and awkward hand motions by Jason…seemed so filled with passion and attraction that it was almost hypnotic.  I sense something brewing here.

Shannon Elizabeth did a great job for not being able to have much practice time with Dereck.  He is such a smooth dancer…i think he makes his partners shine.  However, Dereck was injured last week and had to be taken to the hospital because of a neck injury.  So Shannon had to practice with Jonathon…who i also adore.  But, still when it comes time to actually perform…it had to be difficult to transition from one partner to another.  Shannon looked beautiful and did a nice job.

Christian de la Fuente who is Cheryl Burke’s dancing parnter was awesome.  He did a nice job.  Seems to be a bit of ego though going on between him and Cheryl about who needs to listen to who.  Both strong partners..if they can find a good working pattern they could be very high on the list of scores.

Marissa Janet Winokur i loved watching perform.  No she isn’t a size 4 and watching her practice getting tossed around by Tony was almost painful.  But, she put all of that aside and tackled the practices with gusto.  Her performance was very good indeed.  However, i do wish the costume department would put a little more time and effort into “presenting” her costumes in a lovely way.  Her outfit this week looked like someone didn’t spend a lot of time trying to make her look good.  Marissa has the potential of becoming one of the better dancers strictly because of  her relationship with Tony.  She is like a sponge…he says it and she focusses her attention on attaining that goal.  I like her energy and her excitement when she is able to do what he throws at her.   Out of all of the seasons…i am truly enjoying watching Tony taking pride in Marissa.  He seems to be loving working with her.  Some of his other partners seemed to irritate him….he was all smiles last night with her.

Marlee Matland is a marvel at what she has been able to accomplish.  When she said that she was having trouble with her balance last night during the turns…i could see that it was definately throwing her off.  There were some genuine oddities during her dance.  I love that she puts herself out there and for the most part has been a positive role model in reaching out and doing something just because she can.  She doesn’t let her deafness define who she is.  Balance is truly controlled in a large part by the inner ear…so i dont know how she will be able to fair throughout the whole competition if and when they get to dances that require many spins and turns…i hope she can find a way to counteract her off balance feeling.

Kristi Yamaguchi is a dance machine.  She is very precise in her steps and for some reason seems to have to work hard at connecting to the judges on an emotional level.  I think she has been doing very well…in fact she got a 29 on her scores in spite of those criticisms of her lack of ability to conveyher emotional character in dance.  When she is able to do this to the judges approval she will have a perfect score…but it does seem that her dancing skills are being judged at a higher level than the other contestants.  She came out from the start with very good skills…but they are using her performances to compare the other dancers to her level of skill.

It will be getting harder on out from this point…because i think after tonight…those with lessor skills will be starting to leave the show.  The bar will keep being raised each week demanding improvement in all areas.

Tuesday nite, that means someone is leaving Dances With The Stars television show. The dancing couples all seem to be getting in sync with each other and have started to show solid teamwork.

I am worried it may be Marissa Janet Winokur…I very much enjoy watching her enthusiasm.  However, she did not do very well last night…so that probably means she is leaving…i believe she could do very well if she only has another week or two.

Adam Carolla is a funny man.  He isn’t dancing as badly as i thought he would.  However, his sense of humor last night left a little to be desired.  I think he may just have ticked off the whole state of Utah with his comments about mormons and prostitutes & pimps.  Kind of not very funny Adam.  It could be Adam that leaves tonight…people in Utah (heavy mormon population) get votes too ya know Adam.  Maybe he wanted to leave…i dont know!

Steve Guttenberg is a talented actor…and he is kind of a funny/wise guy also.  But he is a nice guy and his dancing has also improved.   He is in the bottom three as far as skill goes…so maybe it is Steve.  I think it will probably be Adam who goes though out of the three even though Adam has a larger fan base.

Marlee, Christian, Shannon Elizabeth, Priscilla Pressley…they are all i think favs and they each seem somewhat skilled in their previous dancing abilities.

The bad part of this season’s show is that everyone …and i mean everyone, is just so darn likeable.  Sad to see any of them go!  * Update:  I was wrong (not the first time) , it was Steve Guttenberg who left this week.  He did so much better this week…so….who knows what’s going to happen from week to week.  Sorry to see ya leave Steve!

Well, last night two of the dancers on Dances with the Stars were the first competitors to be eliminated.  All of the contestants this year are fun, talented and very likeable.  It is always sad to see people leave the show in throughout the process.

You always think that those who leave the contest in the beginning…probably have the least experience in dance; at the same time once they leave, you truly wonder just how much farther they could have gone in the competition if they could have only had another couple of weeks to develop their skills.

This time the two eliminated are magician Penn Jillette and the tennis player Monica Seles.  Both people are very accomplished in their own fields.   Both of these contestants for me connected to viewers on an emotional level.

Monica because she missed out in her youth with things such as school dances and proms…as she called it the girly girl aspect of life. It was nice (and a little awkward at first) watching her discover this side of her person-hood.  It was a bit like watching your preteen daughter as she enters into the world of self-discovery.  So, yeah, it would have been nice to see her have another week or two…but, unfortunately…the other competitors were more capable.

Now, Penn Jillette was also a person who let his disovery of the joy of dance shine through.  He is a very tall man.  He showed his vulnerability to me by cracking jokes…but, i do think that he truly loved every minute.  He will probably never be a truly smooth, gifted dancer…but, his ability to wring joy out of the experience touched me.   So again, because he so obviously was having a perfectly wonderful experience…it was sort of sad to see him go!  Or is he?  He vowed for this not to be the end of his dance career; faceticiously saying…that Dances With The Stars wasn’t the only opportunity for a dance career :)!  Gotta love that.

The results of the Dances with the Stars competition last night will be revealed this evening.  While in my mind, there are two probable competitors most likely to leave…past seasons have shown that it isn’t just talent that determines who leaves and who stays in the mix from week to week.  It is all about audience support.

It has been fun already and this is the first week of eliminations.  Kristi the ice skater was astounding in the performance that she gave.  Marlee the actress (who is deaf by the way) was equally amazing considering her special challenge.  Mario was pretty good as well as Jason the football player was smooth.  I love the energy of Marissa(cancer survivor) the broadway star.

Truly each of the competitors who are very accomplished in their own areas of expertise are putting on a show.  It will be fun to see them grow as performers in the dance contest.

I wonder who will get to put up their feet and rest their piggies on Dances with the Stars after tonight’s episode?  I very much enjoy this show…and am looking forward to watching this season evolve.

Last week it was interesting to hear a few of the new contestants say they wanted to figure out a way to get out of it after they started the process.  I wonder if they will be the first ones to leave?  It is alot harder than it looks dancing and practicing all of those hours and trying to look good in front of millions of viewers every week!
