Today it was announced on Joel Madden’s bands website that he and Nicole are adding to their family.  Their daughter Harlow is going to have a younger sibling.  Having children who are close in age is good for the children; but, can be a little rough on the parents.   However, Joel says that finding out that they are expecting another child is better than an Oscar!

With their daughter Harlow just over 1 year old and a second child on the way; one wonders whether they will get married?  Nicole’s adopted parents divorced when she was young so maybe that plays a part in not having legalized her relationship with Joel…but, there is no greater commitment than having a child together; so hopefully, they will get married soon.   Joel’s father, allegedly left his family and they struggled because of it.  So, maybe fear and trust are big issues for this young couple in love.

God says that to those whom much is given, much is expected in return.  Both Nicole and Joel have had many blessings in their lives.  I like the fact that they started the Richie Madden Children’s Foundation to help children.  Joel also says that God has blessed his family.  I do wish since so many young people look up to them as role models that they would get married in the eyes of God so that they could realize the fullness of God’s blessings!

I read today that the family of Steven Curtis Chapman lost a daughter to a tragic accident yesterday.  The Chapman family’s youngest daughter 5 year old Maria was hit by a car driven by her brother.  It happened at their home in Nashville.  Worse still, it was witnessed by other family members.  What a horrible thing to see.  Maria’s brother needs alot of prayer.  It is a heavy burden to be in the position of being the driver who didn’t see the child.   May God bless this whole family during this time.

Their daughter Maria was adopted from China.  The Chapman’s have three children born to them and three others who they adopted.  I remember reading in an adoption magazine a few months ago, how the family felt called to adopt a child from China.  The family’s oldest daugther encouraged her parents to do so.  The Chapman’s committed to missionary work in China a couple of years ago.  I am sure with the recent tragedy that China has been going through has affected them greatly.

Steven Curtis Chapman is a gifted Christian singer.  He has been a huge force in ministering through music.  The family also has created a ministry foundation for those wishing to adopt called Shaohannah’s Hope; it helps the families to be able to afford to adopt.  I am sure the whole family’s heart is heavy.  For a child makes a huge impact on a family whether they are adopted or birthed into the family.  A child’s death leaves a huge empty spot.  Please pray for healing during their time of grief.  You can learn a bit more here:  http://www.stevencurtischapman.com/

Lance Armstrong is a force to be reckoned with; in sports, and in the world of cancer education and fundraising.  He is a world reknown cyclist of the Tour de France fame.  He himself fought his way back from a grim testicular cancer diagnosis.

He has celebrated his well-being by committing to the fight against cancer.  His accomplishments in this area are starting to stack up to become a measure by which we can see how far we have come and how much farther we need to go in the fight.  He advocates living strong.

Since the time of his diagnosis, he has dedicated himself to education, fundraising and empowering those affected by cancer.  Lance Armstrong is the driving force behind the Live Strong movement.  They have set aside May13th, 2008 as Live Strong day; there will be events nationwide in America to raise both funds and awareness.

If you would like to know more about his foundation, take a look here at:  http://www.livestrong.org/site/c.khLXK1PxHmF/b.2660611/k.BCED/Home.htm

Lance has recently spoken to the United State’s Senate about the status of the fight against cancer; you can see his speach at:  http://www.c-spanarchives.org/library/index.php?main_page=product_video_info&products_id=205238-1.  Far too many of us have been affected by the disease called cancer… there are over 1,500 deaths a day in America from cancer.  Those numbers need to change for the better.

You can keep up with the work of the Lance Armstrong Foundation; and Lance himself as well, by signing up for his blog at: http://livestrongblog.org/.  Lance made an appearance on Good Morning America today to promote the idea of Live Strong.

Remember, May 13th as the Live Strong day, make a point to support the work of this fine organization.  Do it for yourself, for those you love, or do it just because it is the right thing to do !

Today on Good Morning America, Maalak Compton-Rock was on speaking about triple negative breast cancer and the foundation that was begun by a group of women who were all affected by their friend who was afflicted with the disease.

There is a lack of knowlege about this disease. It is a breast cancer that is resistant to the typical courses of treatment that is recommended for breast cancer.  It is important to create an awareness so that those affected by this type of cancer don’t waste critical amounts of time treating their cancer ineffectually, thereby decreasing their chances of survival.  Many have the disease but, are unaware; and, could be better informed so that treatment could be tailor made to improve their success. This is the first time that i have heard of triple negative breast cancer and even then, i wasn’t clear on what i heard.

In fact, i believe that Robin Roberts made a casual remark that this is the type of cancer that she is dealing with; but, she made the comment in such a casual way that i am not sure.

Robin is a woman that goes out of her way not to draw attention to herself; but, she has made concessions in some areas that are important to her, such as her battle against cancer and her work on the rebuilding on communities that were devastated by hurricane Katrina.  The allowances she has made are only in her quest to help draw attention to the issues at hand…not to herself.

Malaak does many good and charitable works.  She is the beautiful wife of Chris Rock and together they are proactive in their charity fundraising and community work.  She is passionate about the work she does and is dedicated to giving back.  If you go to Malaak’s website at :  www.angelrockproject.com/ you will find many worthy non-profit organizations to help support.  They not only give money, but time and attention as well; it is an inspiration to us all to do the same.

In regards to the triple negative breast cancer awareness…her website gives access to the website for the foundation that was created in honor of her friend Nancy Block-Zenna.  It was Nancy’s desire that a cure be found so that others did not suffer as she herself suffered from this disease.  From her mouth to God’s ears.  The foundation can be found at:  www.tnbcfoundation.org.  Thank you Good Morning America, Robin Roberts and Malaak Compton-Rock and all of those doing research and healing in these areas; God bless you and your work.         Update:  see this interesting possibly related information https://writeasrain.wordpress.com/2008/05/16/women-are-dying-for-size-of-level-d-when-it-comes-to-breasts/   Please note:  I have moved my blog to: http://www.writewhereyouareblog.com  Please addd me to your RSS feed.  Thanks!
