Here is an interesting story in the news…it seems that people who annoy others are now being held legally responsible and can receive fines for their annoying behavior.  Those who have been annoyed now have legal recourse against those who continually display behavior that is alarming, annoying, or serves no legitimate purpose.  Wow!  That is interesting.

In Brighton, Michigan starting January 17, 2009…the new ordinance will begin.  It will also be against the law to molest anyone, to insult them,  annoy or accost them.  Hmmm, one wonders about the potential limitations, of such of a law or ordinance.  Who decides what constitutes legal annoyance?  Will there be guidelines as to what is just a frustration, and what is over the top and prosecutable?

All that i could think of when i heard about this was; that it was a good thing that the law was not viable in my own home between my children….everything they do annoys each other some days!  🙂  I can just see it in homes across the nation, can’t you?  Mom…make him/her stop…they won’t leave me alone…so and so took my seat…he/she is annoying me…Mooooooooooommmmmmmmmmm!!!  Good thing we don’t have to pay fines against annoying each other in families…don’t ya think?  I mean…really stop and think about this law…is it going to have a positive impact on the community of Brighton?

It would seem like this type of law has unlimited potential for frivolous lawsuits by people with grudges against one another.   It has a price tag of a $500.00 fine; which is no small thing.   I think that the courts will eventually resent having every little dispute brought before the bench…but, the fee that the court would levy against those violating the new law would help them to overcome the inconvience and  resentment associated with enforcing such a new law.  What do you think…will this be something that catches on around the country?  Should it?  Does a law like this have the power to be abused?  Should there be some kind of written guidelines or consequences to prevent someone from fraudulently accusing innocent people?

I just heard an amazing thing…Google wants to impact the world with fresh new ideas…and what’s more…they are willing to reward those ideas of positive impact with some major money that could turn this world side ways on it’s axis!  This is to celebrate their 10th birthday.  The winning suggestion will come up with an idea that is able to help many people in the world.   Do you have an idea; one that, if it had some major money and some expert guidance behind it, could improve some area of life for a whole lot of people?  Here is what you need to do then…go to:http://www.project10tothe100.com/index.html .

Tell them your idea…answer their questions and wait to load up the cannon of impact to explode some positivity on the universe.  There is a potential for $10 million dollars to be used to implement the ideas…but you have to hurry…go to: http://www.project10tothe100.com/index.html .  There is $10 million dollars allotted to making this happen…they can divide that amount between up to five different ideas…or they could choose to support one idea.  The funding would be divided accordingly if they went with multiple ideas.

We live in a world that is filled with need; Google just wants to make the world a better place for as many people as possible.  Do you have an idea that can help make that happen?

Submit your ideas before October 20th, 2008.  You don’t have to have the skills to implement your idea; whether it be a humanitarian, technological, environmental, agricultural, artistic, economic, medical or any other kind of idea.  Just post your idea…answer their questions and wait and see how it will take shape if your idea is accepted as an idea of promise.  The future impact is only limited by the quality of the ideas submitted.

Put on your thinking cap and come up with something that will make the world a better place to live in…for the most people; from now, and into infinity!  Good luck…and many blessings to those who will be impacted by the thought, the guidance, and the money.  Thank you Google for shinning a light of opportunity for the recipients of this wonderful project.

You know what, just when I think I have figured out which way is up in this world; someone comes along and shakes my brain like a snow globe. Geez…there are alot of rude people in our world; did ya know that?

I try really hard to give people benefit of the doubt when it comes to saying and doing rude or insensitive things.  I try to see if they just made a slip of the tongue and said something without thinking or if they really meant it.  Although, I just have to admit it…I think our world is just becoming a less caring place in how people treat each other.  (more…)

When cyclone Nargis hit Myanmar it brought nothing but death and destruction.  The government has been severly overwhelmed and prideful in the past about being able to handle anything.  The whole country is in mourning…but is in crisis mode just to survive themselves.  This is a situation that is going to require help from other nations but, overcoming past suspicions is not easy.  Accepting help that is being offered is going to be the key to rebuilding their country.

The destruction of land, property, and lives is such, that it is going to take massive relief from other countries.  The sooner the Myanmar government “allows” this help the better.  The numbers are being contested and thrown about here and there…but, there is no doubt that the loss of lives is massive.  It is estimated that over 22,000 people are dead and 41,000 people are unaccounted for or missing.  Those numbers are subject to change and not for the better i am afraid.

The peoples of Myanmar are angry…angry because of a government crackdown on peaceful protests by monks back in September.  The people of Myanmar don’t feel that the government properly prepared the people for this storm.  Some precautions could have been taken, with proper notice, to find some safety for many of the people.  They were caught unprepared.

Now, the  Irrawady delta region was flooded by the massive storm surge and not only the lives were lost but the area of the delta which is called the rice bowl.  This is where the large portions of rice were grown and produced.  This will have long lasting effects on the country because of the lives lost and the ability to earn income in that area that was devastated.

The government of Myanmar did ask for assistance from other countries which is unheard of.  This should tell us that the circumstances are dire indeed.  Now, relief efforts are underway.  This will require large scale coordination of aid workers.

Fresh water, food supplies, building supplies, medicines and clothing and other basic necessities are scarce.  This is all in relation to the damage from the storm.  Think about the large scale need to bury this many bodies before disease sets in to the area. I am sure that the military will have to pitch in to help bury this many dead people.   These deaths could cause massive infections and diseases if the bodies of those lost is not properly taken care of.

In the meantime, cleaning up the damage is critical to getting the aid workers into the region.  Giving them room to work that is safe for those offering help.  Pray for those who are grieving and trying to survive physically at the same time.  Time and genuine human compassion are required not to mention funding.   Relief efforts will also require teamwork.  The fear is going to be tremendous at a time like this.   We need to unite at times like this…because, therefore, but for the grace of God…this disaster could be visited upon any of our countries, at any time.
