Jon Benet Ramsey would have been 18 years old on August 6, 2008. Instead she is forever memorialized in photos as a six year old beauty queen; thanks to the person or persons, who sexually assaulted her and took her life. We are not any closer to knowing who killed Jon Benet now, then we were, when she died. Her family has always alleged that it was an intruder unknown to them who caused their daughter’s death.
She died on December 25, 1996. Her family was under scrutiny for many years after her death. It was a matter of fact, that many did suspect both the mother and the father of her murder; some even theorized that her brother Burke killed her, even though he was just 9 years old at the time of her death.
Today, July 9, 2008 it was announced that new DNA has cleared the family members in Jon Benet’s death. It is too bad that her mother, Patsy Ramsey, did not live to see herself cleared as she protested loudly that she was not involved in the death of her child. The investigation brought great distress to the family over the years.
Patsy died last year of cancer. Boulder County District Attorney Mary Lacy has allegedly said that she apologizes if any actions from her office have added to the Ramsey’s distress at any time. I am sure that is a small (probably very small) consolation at this point.
