My daughter Aleisia called last night to tell me something sweet. She said my granddaughter, Sierra who is 2, said out of the blue while they were driving; “Call Grandma Rainy, call Grandma Rainy”. She kept saying it in a sing song voice. She loves to call grandma on the cell phone. My daughter explained that we were at church (they were on the way to theirs as well). So Sierra was ok with that; when told they could call later.
Well, when i talked to her later…we were interrupting some serious cackle time with her little brother. He got a new toy guitar with a microphone and she would hold it up to his mouth and he would make a squeal and they would both burst into hysterical laughter. Now, Aleisia said all day that Sierra wanted to talk to gram…so she said,” Sierra…gram’s on the phone”…
Baby girl came on the line and took a quick breath and said…”love you gram…bye, bye”! Way too funny…I was dismissed. My daughter was laughing as she came back online. She said…i guess we will have to try tomorrow cause i know she wants to talk…but, right now you have serious competiton since she is having the time of her life making her brother laugh. That works for me. Gotta love that.
I am telling ya what …she is a big talker for a two year old. I am completely unprejudiced when i say that…she really is. She has been talking like an older child for such a long time. But anyway, back to the story…i haven’t seen her for like a couple of weeks. I miss her too.
They only live an hour or so away…but with gas prices over 3 dollars a gallon (it costs like $30 bucks to go down and back) and my other children back in school…it is a little hard to just get an urge and run on down to visit.
At the moment, my husband is laid off so those ugly money things have to be considered even when it comes to visiting my beautiful grandbabies. Plus, i dont want to go down there for just a few minutes. I like to stay and play.
Sierra has been a big sister for a whole year now. Slate turned 1 year old on labor day weekend. He is starting to get around and make his opinions count too. Big sis loves her bro…but she is having to learn to share and compromise. Big lessons even for us “so called adults”. 🙂
Thank you for the sweet comment, and for the compliment on my blog. I came across your blog a couple of days ago by way of “Google blogs with the comment about ovarian cancer on the post, “Roller Coaster Ride” Everything you wrote rang true for me, and I definitely identified with what you were saying. I read another post about “baking an apple pie” and it was so well written that I honestly could almost smell the pie from your description. (smile)
Usually when I come across other Google Blogs with the key words “ovarian cancer” I usually only read that post and then delete the blog and move on to the next, but yours for me, was a keeper. I have many nights when I can’t sleep, and I find myself sitting at the computer late into the night trying to find something to hold my attention while waiting for sleeping/pain meds to kick in. After reading just a few minutes, I knew that I wanted to add you to my list of “good reads” for my late night reading. I hope you don’t mind.
Thanks again for introducing yourself and saying hello, and allowing me to read, and hopefully be able to take notes and learn something from your excellent descriptive writing skills. And oh, you were asking about my age. I am a 32 year old Corporate Flight Attendant, (on medical leave) and yes, I have been in a battle with Ovarian Cancer since 2001. Hopefully winning*!!!
